# Peptides for Longevity After 45: What the Evidence Really Says

Peptides include both authorized medicines and products promoted far beyond their evidence. The useful distinction is the exact product, indication and human research, not whether something is described as a peptide.

## Quick takeaways

- **Authorized treatment and “research use only” are different categories.**

- **A biological effect is not a longevity benefit.**

- **Do not buy or use unauthorized injectable peptides.**

Educational guidance. Not medical advice. Discuss training or dietary changes with your physician.

## Authorization and evidence for the exact peptide

[Health Canada warns against unauthorized injectable peptides](https://recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/alert-recall/think-twice-injecting-peptides-bought-online-unauthorized-products-can-seriously-harm) marketed for wellness, recovery or anti-aging. Labels such as “research grade” do not establish safety for people.

Evidence for an authorized peptide medicine in a defined condition does not validate BPC-157, CJC-1295 or another product sold for general longevity. Clinic monitoring also cannot supply missing evidence of benefit.

## Check the product, use and human outcomes

### Identify the exact claim

**Why it matters:** The broad peptide label can obscure major differences.

**Practical application / what to track:** Record the product, route and intended condition rather than relying on a category claim.

### Check authorization

**Why it matters:** Availability through a website or clinic does not prove authorization.

**Practical application / what to track:** Ask a pharmacist to check the exact product and approved use in your jurisdiction.

### Read human outcomes

**Why it matters:** Animal results cannot establish a personal treatment plan.

**Practical application / what to track:** Ask whether controlled human trials measured a meaningful benefit and reported harms.

### Consider alternatives

**Why it matters:** The concern behind the purchase may have established assessment or treatment options.

**Practical application / what to track:** Bring the recovery, pain or metabolic question to your clinician before considering a product.

## Avoid copying online injection protocols

- **Treating “research use only” as a quality guarantee.**

- **Assuming an approved medicine validates all peptides.**

- **Copying injection or dosing instructions from online protocols.**

**If you have used an unauthorized product and feel unwell or have concerns, contact a healthcare professional promptly.** Seek emergency help for severe symptoms.

## Primary care discussion checklist

Use the questions that fit your situation. Keep personal health notes private and bring them through your clinic’s approved channel.

- **What established assessment or treatment fits my underlying concern?**

- **Is this exact product authorized for the proposed use?**

- **What evidence, risks and alternatives should we discuss?**
