Assumptions and source
95% uncertainty range: 5.4–7.1 life-minutes per activity minute.
Veerman et al. (2024/25): US adults 40+, total activity expressed as 3-mph walking. Assumes sustained change and causal interpretation of observational associations. Population estimates, not personal predictions; the range is model uncertainty.

Veerman reference: US adults 40+, Least-active → second quarter, about 28.5 extra walking-equivalent minutes daily, sustained over time. No exercise-specific return is inferred.

How TROI Minutes work
The research: Veerman and colleagues modeled US adults aged 40+, using total accelerometer-measured activity expressed as walking equivalents at 3 mph. The selected scenario, numerical return and uncertainty are shown together in the research reference above. It was a population life-table model based on observational associations, not a trial measuring minutes of life earned from individual walks.
Your investment: Logs record actual active minutes. Both stair settings include ascent, descent, brief turns and access walking, counted once. Passive transit, waiting and rest add to total break time. Earlier ascent-only entries stay labeled in history.
Potential TROI Minutes: Modeled added life-minutes under a named published sustained-habit scenario, always paired with an investment denominator. Your logs do not establish your baseline activity quartile or reproduce the study’s total-activity measurement. For Veerman scenarios, the logging card scales the selected reference ratio to the entered active minutes as an arithmetic illustration. Microlives remains fixed at its published first-20-daily-minute reference and is not scaled to session duration. This does not validate a dose-specific or exercise-specific lifespan estimate. No session payouts or cumulative lifespan balance are calculated.
Friends: The shared target is 200 active minutes over the last seven days, with a 30-minute daily contribution cap per person. These are participation design choices, not exercise prescriptions. Friends are fictional in this local demo. Strength achievements remain separate.
